WHERE BRIDE & GROOM SAY I DO
Hi, friends!
If this is your first time around here, you can catch up by reading the intro to this series here.
As I mentioned last time, when we got engaged I was jumping from idea to idea of how and where I wanted our wedding to be. Most of the times, the bride is who decides most of the details, and that was exactly my case.
To be honest, I used to say I wasn’t going to get married, and I never had a wedding plan from my childhood or so, you know like in the movies where girls collect ideas for their wedding day, nope, none of that for me.
My first thought was a laid back wedding, very simple. Then a few days later I was looking at hydrangeas and ballrooms. I was falling in love with every Pinterest board that came across, from the ones with the garden wedding to the super duper fancy ones. I liked everything and had absolutely no idea what was what I really wanted.
A good way to start the planning process is by choosing your wedding venue for both ceremony and reception. Open a bottle of wine, sit on the couch with your other half and have a little chat of how you guys envision the wedding day.
Imagining how things will look like on your wedding day can help you to come up with a better idea of what is that you’re looking for. Also, chat about it with your closed ones, sometimes they can bring up ideas that you weren’t considering, and they can also remind you of who you are as a couple and what could be a perfect fit for your big day celebration.
One day, talking with my mom, sisters, and some of my cousins about the wedding a little light shined bright as they mentioned little things about me, about Chris, and about our personalities, and it all started to take shape!
I’ve always been preppy at heart, so I stuck to my true self and went for it. Yes to the hydrangeas and high heels (and flip flops for later). On the other hand, Chris wore his chucks, bringing his personal touch to our day!
Securing your wedding venue should be one of the first things you figure out as you start planning your wedding day, not only because venues get booked faster than you think, but because it will help you decide on other details, like colors and the kind of flowers you want, etc.
To start, have a few options of dates and venues, and start your selection process as soon as you can!
Best of luck,
Levana
