DETAILS OF A WEDDING DAY
The wedding possibilities are endless, but at the end, every couple has their unique style, which is embodied by putting together little wedding details that represent both bride and groom. Like the kind of flowers and the wedding colors, just to mention a few.
When I talk about details I’m not only referring to the flower arrangements and the customized cups for the bride and groom, but more about particular things that complement who you are and become even more especial on such an important day.
It could be a material thing with a sentimental meaning, like the perfume your soon to be spouse gave you, or a pin with the shape of your dog; or it could be the place where you chose to celebrate your day.
It is not so much about the “detail” itself, but about the emotions it evokes!
If you’re wondering why details are such a big deal for photographers? let me share my why!
When Chris and I got married, I chose to get ready at my parents house (which I still call home). It is the place where I grew up, where I ran and played with my siblings, where I come back from anywhere and always feel safe and loved.
So I wanted my getting ready photos there, and now every time I get to see our wedding album, not only I remember the happiness of our wedding day, but I get to travel back home and its such a happy feeling!
Of course we added other details to our day too, like hydrangeas (one of my favorite flowers) and Steelers themed cake toppers (because we love football & Pittsburgh), and I got to wear a gorgeous pearl necklace from my Godmother, while Chris wore chucks because he doesn’t like other shoes (well, this is a story of its own lol), and so on.
Details can be can be elaborated pieces or a simple “secret“ word between you and your fiance!
The best part of these personal little things is that when you’re in the moment there is no need for direction, you’re in a comfortable place holding or enjoying something that is meaningful and special for you and your loved one.
You’re bursting into laughter because you shared that special story, or having a quiet moment as you hold a special family heirloom. Whatever those details are, they can translate into unique moments!
Then, you go back to your photos and see those little pieces and candid moments, the ones that all together tell the beautiful story of your wedding day!
I love starting wedding days by photographing details. It’s like having a little taste of all the beauty and emotions that the day will hold!
